Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling rejuvenates the complexion without invasive surgery, injections, or lasers. At our med spa in Denver, our expert estheticians provides microneedling to men and women who desire brighter, more youthful skin.

Microneedling with PRP

Microneedling with plasma-rich platelets (PRP) uses part of the blood from the person having the procedure to rejuvenate the skin.

Microneedling with PRP is a cosmetic treatment that stimulates collagen production by creating microchannels in the layers of the skin and applying platelets, which are one of the components of blood.

The addition of PRP from the blood may make microneedling more effective. The liquid in blood is plasma, while platelets are solid. Platelets help create clotting, so they are vital for healing wounds and injuries. PRP is plasma in which the concentration of platelets is higher than that of other components of the blood. One of our expert estheticians will take a blood sample and then use a spinning tool called a centrifuge to separate the PRP from the rest of the blood. PRP contains proteins, including growth factors and cytokines. These proteins help skin tissue repair itself.

The protocol for this treatment starts with an esthetician at Permanent Makeup Aesthetics Clinic utilizing a microneedling device to prick the skin, making tiny holes in the skin’s surface. They will then apply PRP to these tiny holes to encourage collagen production and cell reproduction.

Skincare FAQs

MICRODERMABRASION

  • The process of microdermabrasion involves a professional device equipped with a diamond tipped wand. When this device is applied to your skin, it gently sloughs off your thicker, outer layer of dead skin to reveal fresh, revived cells.

The procedure also stimulates the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, two skin structural compounds that boost skin texture and smoothness. It’s an effective skin rejuvenation technique that leaves the complexion looking smoother, feeling softer, and glowing brighter.

Microdermabrasion uses no chemicals and is noninvasive with no downtime.

  • For men and women with mild to moderate skin imperfections, microdermabrasion is a good choice. It leaves the skin looking vibrant with removing the dead layer of skin that makes the skin appear dull.

    Microdermabrasion addresses:

    • Dull skin

    • Crow’s feet

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Acne scars

    • Uneven coloration

    • Clogged pores

    • Sun and age spots

Microdermabrasion is appropriate for all skin types, but cannot remedy sagging skin or very deep facial folds and creases. The treatment takes 30-65 minutes.

  • You may have some pinkness in your skin following microdermabrasion. This discoloration usually subsides within 24 hours, so there is no need to take time off work.

You may have the sensation of sunburn, with some tightness and dryness.

Your skin is temporarily more sensitive to ultraviolet rays after microdermabrasion. It is recommended to avoid direct contact with the sun and wearing sunscreen when outdoors is vital for a great result.

  • Microdermabrasion is noninvasive meaning there is no utilization of needles or incisions. It requires no numbing cream prior to a session. You may feel slight discomfort, but most people find it quite tolerable.

  • Sessions are typically scheduled 4 to 6 weeks apart as skin requires maintenance as its living and constantly changing as the aging process continues. You’ll notice results such as a brighter skin tone and a reduction in blackheads after just one session. Optimal benefits are achieved after 5-8 treatments. People with deep scarring may benefit from as many as 16 sessions.

CHEMICAL PEELS

  • A chemical peel is a procedure in which chemicals are applied to your face that cause old, dead skin to slough off, revealing fresh new cells. You’ll experience improved skin tone, texture, and youthfulness.

Different levels of peels are offered and customized on an individual basis. After a thorough evaluation of your skin and aesthetic goals, the expert estheticians at our medspa determine the right one for you.

    Peels range in intensity:

    • Superficial peels are the mildest and involve minimal downtime

    • Medium peels are more intense and require 3 to 5 days of recovery

    • Deep peels are most intense and require 7 to 10 days of recovery

    • Deep peels are most effective at reducing discoloration, scars, age spots, and wrinkles.

  • Men and women who experience a variety of skin issues benefit from chemical peels. Chemical peels address a number of skin issues, including:

    • Acne and acne scars

    • Rough skin

    • Sun-damaged skin

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Irregular pigmentation

  • You may feel some stinging as the peel is applied to your skin. Medium and deep peels sting more than superficial peels.

Although it’s not super painful, you may have some stinging, redness, swelling, and crusting following a peel.

If you undergo a peel at our med spa, you’ll receive a complete post-procedure plan that expedites your healing to reveal fresh, smooth skin.

MICRONEEDLING

  • Microneedling is a procedure in which the esthetician from Permanent Makeup Aesthetics Clinic applies a stamp-like device to your skin to create micro-wounds in the outer layer of the skin also known as the epidermis. The stamp is equipped with tiny needles that create small holes that are invisible to the naked eye but cause your body’s wound-healing processes to go into full action.

As a result, growth factors rush to your skin to regulate cellular growth and promote new, healthy skin cells. The controlled injuries stimulate your body’s natural production of collagen and elastin, which add volume and structure to sagging, scarred, and wrinkled skin.

  • Microneedling addresses a wide variety of common skin concerns. These include:

    • Age or sun spots

    • Large pores

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Acne scars

    • Sagging skin

    • Uneven skin tone

The microholes created with microneedling make your skin more receptive to topical products, too. Anti-aging serums and creams can penetrate deeper to offer a greater impact on your skin’s look and feel.

  • A microneedling session may be slightly uncomfortable, but most clients do just fine with the procedure. Our esthetician applies a numbing cream 45 minutes prior to your treatment to ease the sensation and make the process more tolerable.

  • Microneedling has limited side effects. You may have some skin irritation and redness in the first few days following a session, but you can go right back to regular activities. If you have lingering redness or swelling that makes you feel self-conscious, makeup can be used to cover up.

You will need to apply sunscreen in the days following microneedling as your skin is temporarily more sensitive to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

  • The initial redness of microneedling fades within about 36 hours to reveal glowing skin. You’ll see the optimal effects of microneedling within a few weeks. As your skin rejuvenates, new cells replace the old, and collagen and elastin production increases.
